About e-TREAM

e-TREAM is a STEER project of the Intelligent Energy Europe Programme of the European Commission, combining the experience of Energy Agencies in nine European countries to address mobility issues such as the need to reduce energy consumption in transport, and to promote alternative fuels and more sustainable transport modes. Long-term benefits will include the increase of sustainable mobility, reductions in costs, health-threatening pollution and noise levels in urban settings and increased public awareness of the need for action.

e-TREAM will accomplish its goals through a programme of education and training, more specifically through the employment of an e-learning platform developed on the basis of the first three STEER projects, namely COMPETENCE, e-Atomium and TREATISE. Training modules, developed in those projects will be adapted to the needs of the employees of Energy Agencies and selected other market actors expanding their expertise in mobility issues and enabling them to provide new services in their regions.

An important impact of e-TREAM will be an increase in awareness of mobility topics throughout Europe. As Energy Agencies beyond the partner consortium become motivated to train their staffs and implement their own mobility-related services, awareness will further expand. Key market actors will learn about the opportunities of alternative fuels and mobility management. In this way, e-TREAM can foster a change in behaviours and the acceptance of traffic planning measures, sustainable transport modes and alternative fuels. In the longer term, the project promotes more sustainable mobility with less traffic growth, pollution, noise, environmental damage and area consumption. Ultimately, each citizen will enjoy equal mobility opportunities.

Project objective

The objective of e-TREAM is to complement the activities of the STEER-projects, implemented in the first call, by integrating their training modules in an e-learning platform open for all Energy Agencies and other relevant actors. The partner Energy Agencies will use their new skills for implementing mobility services. Long term objectives are the reduction of energy consumption and the promotion of alternative fuels and more sustainable transport modes.
