e-TREAM - improve your knowledge on transport - related issues
The e-learning tools incorporated in e-TREAM offer significant advantages to energy agencies and other relevant stakeholders in Europe seeking to develop new skills for implementing mobility services and reducing energy consumption in the area of transport.
E-learning modules covering a wide range of topics are available at the e-learning platform, on all relevant aspects:
- Fundamentals of transport and energy (introduction)
- Production and utilisation of bio-fuels
- Alternative fuels and vehicles (excluding bio-fuels)
- Driving style and in-car devices
- Mobility management for municipalities
- Mobility management for companies and public authorities
- Mobility management for schools
- Demand management (urban planning and transport, access management, telematics, parking management)
- Mobility marketing (transport information, awareness raising, marketing, participation and change management)
The main idea is that participants from energy agencies and other relevant institutions all over Europe have the opportunity to improve their knowledge in transport-related issues, thus opening up the opportunity to widen the scope of their organisations and to implement new services or projects in their regions.
The modules are developed on the basis of the best available knowledge in co-operation with highly qualified experts. Moreover, the modules target the needs of energy agencies trough a practice-orientated approach, which includes the elaboration of concrete services for the regions.
The modules have been tested by energy agencies from different countries in Europe, and their review has been included in the process of optimising the e-learning platform.
The e-learning approach was chosen because it offers a significant range of advantages:
- The on-demand availability of the training modules enables the participants to implement training according to their time resources. They can stay in their offices or access the platform from their homes, so it can be perfectly integrated into their work schedules.
- The participants implement the training in their personal pace, which optimises the learning success.
- The students are able to choose their preferred topic and sequence of topics.
- The content of the modules will always be up-to-date because the modules are located in one place, and in that sense can easily be updated and can provide direct links to supporting materials such as Internet and library resources.
In addition to the training modules, the students will receive comprehensive support from the project consortium of e-TREAM, especially from the knowledge pool of the Expert Board, which is part of the project and consists of more than 20 highly qualified experts from different European countries.
In addition to the Expert Board the students will be supported by a user secretariat, which provides additional information on request.
The user secretariat will keep in contact with the students to motivate them to continue the e-learning process, remind them to deliver assignments and inform them about important news and discussions in their thematic areas.
A student enrolling in the training programme will receive a comprehensive study pack. This will include study notes, a general curriculum, case studies, computer-aided tutorials, and other materials. Additionally, the e-TREAM distance learning Web gateway will give the student instant access to the latest course information, and allow communication with the tutors and fellow students. Thus, the e-TREAM Expert Board will provide the student with everything required to get started.
