”CO2-effective cars sales men in Kalmar County”
Background
The exhaust of CO2-emissions from cars is increasing in Europe. We have to introduce cleaner vehicles to be able to reach a sustainable transport sector. The European Commission plans to implement a jurisdiction that regulates the exhaust of CO2-emissions to maximum 120 gram / km (in average in new sold cars) at latest 2012. Local and regional Car dealers are a very important target group to reach this goal.
Short description of the regional service:
Energy Agency for Southeast Sweden drives a service for car dealers and salesmen in Kalmar county. Based upon discussions, education & information and other common activities together with the car dealers in the county this service helps car salesmen to become environmental ambassadors. Are the car salesmen more aware and competent in environmental issues they can argument for and sell cleaner vehicles.
Objectives
- Increased awareness and interest about environmental issues by car sales men.
- Decreased CO2-emissions from new sold cars.
Results
So far about 30 car dealers are interested of the service. We have developed education and selling materials, we have had education for car salesmen and organized exhibitions and test driving of clean vehicles. We have made an inventory of their car sales earlier year. With this basic information the car dealers now will set up goals to lower their CO2-emissions during 2008. A first follow up will be done after summer 2008.
